Michigan-born Robert Doane Le Mar grew up in Chicago, and began his career at the age of eleven by sketching portraits professionally at lake front beaches. Following a Golden Key award for his artwork, Robert earned a scholarship to the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago. Further studies included work at the Maryland School of Art and Design in Silver Spring, Maryland. His uncanny ability to evoke a subject's essence from life made him a favorite portraitist in Maryland's Ocean City resort season after season.
But Le Mar's major works in oil and other mediums have steadily increased his reputation, and his paintings and drawings enhance many private and corporate collections, including:
Sea Colony Resorts, Bethany Beach, DE; Architectural Interiors, Ocean City, MD; Rhodes Consultants, South Point, MD; Artistic Images, Bethany Beach, DE; The Ruddertown Complex, Dewey Beach, DE; Diane Gordy Interiors, Rehoboth Beach, DE; Beltway Plaza Developers, Greenbelt, MD; The Captain Bunting, Ocean City, MD; The Bethany Land Company, Berlin, MD.
In addition
to classical portraiture, Le Mar's paintings and pastels range from representational
landscapes to abstract minimalism - all illuminated by a distinctive energy
of style and unique vision that mark every work as "a Le Mar."
